BEAVERTOWN — Paul D. Romig, 86, of 1275 Lake Road, passed away at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1926, in West Beaver Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Ner and Cora (Rager) Romig. On April 7, 1951, he married the former Mary Jane Houtz, who survives. His passing breaks a marital union of 61 years.
Early in his life, Paul worked at Philco, Watsontown. He then farmed for 42 years until his retirement in 2000.
Paul was a member of St. Peter’s Independent Bible Church, Beavertown.
He enjoyed hunting, watching television, attending yard sales and going to restaurants with Mary’s brothers and sisters and their spouses.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Penny L. Romig-Thomas and Timothy E. Thomas, of Beavertown, and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by the family dogs, Max, Daisy and Willy.
Paul was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph M. Sr. and Ray B. Romig, and five sisters, Nettie M. Weader, Dora E. Weader, Olive A. Kurtz, Dessie M. Ranck and Mary G. Madenford.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Independent Bible Church, Middle Road, Beavertown, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Alvin E. Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor Paul may be made to St. Peter’s Independent Bible Church, 7812 Middle Road, Beavertown, PA 17813.
The family would like to thank the VNA Health System Hospice for its care.
Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
