LEWISBURG — Shirley A. Olive, 75, of 74 Fairsom Court, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
She was born Sept. 26, 1937, in Sunbury, the daughter of the late Edgar and Anna M. (Hockenbrock) Wolfe. On Oct. 1, 1973, she married Robert L. Olive, who preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1980.
Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Watsontown High School.
She worked at the former Jasper Wood Products and Swope Pharmaceutical, Watsontown. In 1999, she retired from International Paper (BBA), where she had worked for 30 years in the laboratory and quality control.
Shirley was an active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, where she was on the consistory, commission and worship committees. An excellent seamstress and machine quilter, Shirley helped make the church banners. She was a member of CERT and a local quilt club. Shirley enjoyed volunteering at the Union County EOC, where she assisted with teaching classes. She also volunteered with disaster relief services of the American Red Cross.
Surviving are one son, David Miller, of Lewisburg, and one brother and sister-in-law, Frederick and Virginia Wolfe, of Mazeppa.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, where a memorial service will be held at 11 with her pastor, the Rev. Paula M. Gustafson, officiating.
Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or the American Cancer Society, Union County Unit, 57 Reitz Blvd., Suite 102, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
