DANVILLE — Margaret J. Herrold, 88, of Rushtown Road, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, surrounded by her family at her home.
She was born Nov. 25, 1924, in Danville, a daughter of the late Frank and Leah (Reed) Enterline.
Margie worked as an registered nurse at the Danville State Hospital and Geisinger Medical Center, where she was a key part in establishing the Oncology Department. After her retirement, she continued to care for neighbors, family and friends until she was 85.
During her retirement, she enjoyed woodcrafting, gardening and keeping her lawn looking beautiful. Margie will be missed by all who knew her. She was truly there for anyone who needed help of any kind.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ned and Dee Herrold, of Florida; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Rick Allegier, of Florida, and Cheryl and Kevin Boylan, of Locust Gap; three grandchildren, Shawn and his wife Devin, Rachel and Rebecca; one great-grandson, Colton; and one sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Jack Buck, of Danville.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ned, in 1969, and three brothers, Frankie, James and Carl.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church St., Danville, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Edmund Minnich, retired, officiating.
Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.
The family will provide flowers. For those wishing, contributions in Margie’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
