Selma Silberman, 89, Lewisburg

LEWISBURG — Selma Silberman, 89, of Riverview Manor, formerly of Three Bridges, N.J., passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born June 8, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Charles and Rachel Shapiro. On June 7, 1942, she married Sol Silberman, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1996.

Selma was a member of Congregation Beth-El, Sunbury.

She was an artist with many different talents. She was a painter, sculptor and ceramicist. Her home in New Jersey and her apartment at RiverWoods were filled with her creations. She also enjoyed knitting, playing cards and eating lobster. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Sharon Silberman, of Lewisburg; four grandchildren, Diana Silberman and her husband, Piotr Cabaj, of New York City, Eric Silberman and his wife, Cindy, of Silver Spring, Md., Pamela Ullman and her husband, Peter, of Lawrenceville, N.J., and Monica Caldwell, and her husband, John, of Bradenton, Fla.; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Dvorshak; three sisters, Libby, Eileen and  her twin sister, Millie; and three brothers-in-law, Ben, Milt and Dimitri.

Burial will be today in Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Benevolent Care Fund, RiverWoods Senior Living Community, 270 RidgeCrest Circle, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
