ELYSBURG — Robert R. “Bob” Mackey, 63, of Elysburg, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born May 2, 1949, in Numidia, a son of Mary (Seemen) Mackey and the late Paul Mackey. He was married to the former Karen Klinger who survives.
Bob was a 1967 graduate of Southern Columbia and was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1975.
Bob worked at the National Ticket Company, Paxinos as a mechanic for over 20 years.
Bob’s two passions were his wife Karen and racing his 1969 Dodge Dart at the Numidia Dragway. He was a devoted husband who cared deeply for all of his family and friends. He always maintained a positive attitude and quickly made people smile with his quick-witted sense of humor. Bob loved entertaining at his pool, vacations to the tropics, and walking his dog, Barney.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tara Mackey and her fiance, Timothy Barrett, of Shamokin; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Heidi Mackey; one granddaughter, Lyla Barrett; two brothers and sister-in-law, William and Wendy Mackey, of Sunbury, and David Mackey and his partner, Karen Rahn, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Bill Cox, of Elysburg; and several nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
At the family’s request, memorial contributions may bemade to the Bob Mackey Racing Scholarship at Central Keystone FCU, 1000 Market St., Sunbury, PA 17801.
Arrangements are under the care of Farrow’s Funeral Home, 240 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin.
