CARLISLE — Helen L. Arnold, 94, a resident of the Church of God Home in Carlisle, formerly of Shermans Dale, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013.
She was born July 30, 1918, in Harper, Kan., a daughter of the late Jacob and Susan (Brubaker) Hinkle. She was married for 51 years to Edwin H. Arnold who preceded her in death.
Helen was a graduate of Selinsgrove High School and was employed by the Selinsgrove Area School District and Plaza Discount Center in Hummels Wharf.
She was a member of Hope Methodist Church in Port Trevorton and also attended Young’s Church in Shermans Dale where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Helen’s favorite pastime was always spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was the focus of her life.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert and Kathy and David and Ann, all of Shermans Dale; five grandchildren, Janine Farson, Andrew Arnold , Bethany Harms, Amy Geyer, and Susan Eshelman; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan, and four brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be scheduled at the convenience of the family and announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to the Church of God Home, 801 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at the Church of God Home for all of the love and kindness that they have given Helen for the past six years.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Boyer Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, New Bloomfield/Duncannon.
