WINFIELD — Bobby A. Royer, 81, of Mountain View Road, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Nov. 25, 1931, in Jackson Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Franklin and Lottie (Kratzer) Royer. On Oct. 7, 1951, he married the former Irene B. Kratzer, who preceded him in death on May 12, 2005. On June 10, 2006, he married Anna (Wagner) Hook, who survives.
Earlier in Bob’s life, he had been a dairy farmer and also a janitor in the Selinsgrove Area School District. He had owned in partnership Musser’s Store, Kantz; had owned and operated Bob’s Tire Sales and Bob’s Used Cars; and was in the garage and excavating businesses. He also was in partnership at B&H Farm Equipment Inc., Beavertown, and at one time, had owned a mini bike sales and service.
He was a charter member of Wayside Bible Church, Middleburg, which was founded in 1966, where he had served as a board member and on the cemetery association board. Bobby enjoyed making barbecue chicken, woodworking and hunting and was very creative with his hands and in creating inventions. He was faithful in his Bible study devotions and will be remembered for his helping and caring for others.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and their families, Larry and Sherry Royer, of Winfield, and their children, Andrea and Shane Strawser, and their children, Kassidy, Kobe and Kolsen, and Michelle and Greg Knouse, and their children, Alexis, Adalin and Aylee; and Timothy and Janice Royer, of Winfield, and their children, Austin and Breonna Royer; four daughters and their families, Ethel and Tim Wagner, of Mount Pleasant Mills, and their children, Christine and Daryl Hart, and their children, Adela and Blake, and Candy and Mark Swineford and their children, Nicholas, Benjamin and Emily, and two stepchildren and two stepgrandchildren; Brenda and Alan Hassinger, of Middleburg, and their children, Amanda and Alrissa Howell and Jarred Hassinger and stepdaughters, Amanda and Sam Bostian and Tabitha Hassinger, and grandchild, Kamdon Eicher, and stepgrandchildren, Jacob Bostian and Cooper and Gavin Crawford; Debra and Bill Mitchell, of Middleburg, and their children, Alicia and Dustin Smith and Aaron and Breanna Mitchell and grandchildren, Courtney and Clayton Smith and Evelyn Mitchell; Martha and Michael Spade, of Liverpool, and their children, Amy and Matthew Gaugler, Andrew and JoLynn Spade, Jonathan and Kristine Spade, and Joshua and Mallary Spade, and grandchildren, Nathan and Kirsten Gaugler, Hannah, Landon, Rebeka, Keira, Payton, Jeremiah and Bethany Spade; four stepchildren and numerous stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Royer, of Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, and Mervin Royer, of Middleburg; and three sisters, Edna Hackenberg, of Middleburg, Faye Kuhns and Mary Basom, both of Winfield.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn, and two brothers, Keneth and Donald Royer.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wayside Bible Church, Middleburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Timothy Reich officiating.
Burial will follow in Wayside Bible Church Cemetery.
Contributions to honor Bobby’s memory may be made to Wayside Bible Church.
