MIDDLEBURG — Clara N. Brubaker, 88, formerly of rural Middleburg, passed away at 4:08 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. She had lived at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, since October 2008.
She was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late William F. and Nettie V. (Ulrich) Danowsky. She was married to Wilmer S. Brubaker in 1990. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Clara had been employed by area textile mills, including Plaza Mill, Selinsgrove, and Beavertown Mills, and retired in 1977 from Sunbury Textile Mill after 18 years of service.
She was a member of Witmer’s United Methodist Church, Port Trevorton.
Clara spent much of her life on the farm, where she loved her animals, especially horses. She was a good cook and baker and spent time crocheting and sewing. Clara will be remembered for her concern for others and always helping when the need arose. Her greatest joy was found in her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Florence V. and John Miller, of Middleburg, and Virginia A. and Charles Wolf, of Paxinos; two grandchildren, Brian Miller and Julie Wolf; one brother, William H. Danowsky, also a guest at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village; and one cousin, Charles Kreamer, of Selinsgrove.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Bloom.
Family will received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2 with the Rev. Beth Stutler officiating.
Burial will be in Susquehanna Mennonite Church Cemetery, Port Trevorton.
