MILTON — Myron N. “Butch” Leiby, 69, of Paradise Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.
Born in Lewisburg on Nov. 3, 1943, he was a son of Marie (Reynolds) Leiby and the late James W. Leiby. On Oct. 12, 1963, he married the former Jamie Jamison, who survives. His death breaks a marital union of 49 years.
He was a 1961 graduate of Danville High School.
He worked for Wieand Bros. Well Drilling earlier in his life and then worked as battalion supply sergeant for the Pennsylvania National Guard before retiring in 2000.
Butch received many state awards for his service.
He was strong in faith and worshipped first at Washington Presbyterian Church in Allenwood and most recently at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Lewisburg. He was active in Tres Dias and in a Bible study on Wednesdays. He enjoyed his friends and the fellowship of both groups.
He was a founding member of the Montour Sportsman’s Combat Pistol League, and he enjoyed hunting and shooting.
He was an avid New York Yankees fan.
He was a good friend to many, and he enjoyed meeting new people. He was never too busy to visit.
Butch is survived by his wife; his mother; one son Greg A. Leiby and his companion, Trisha Miller, of Winfield; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Andrew, Emily and Carter Leiby; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Suzanne Burns, of Sunbury, and Twila and Robert Luden, of Northumberland; and one brother and sister in law, Robert and Linda Leiby, of Milton.
He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother, Jimmy.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church, where a memorial service will be held at 11. Officiating will be his pastor, Alan Tucker.
Burial with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family in Uniontown Cemetery, Allenwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to SUN Home Health Services, 61 Duke St., P.O. Box 232, Northumberland, PA 17857, or to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 205 Bull Run Crossing Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
Arrangements are under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, Milton.
