Peter R. Rogers, 72, Northumberland

NORTHUMBERLAND — Peter R. Rogers, 72, of 451 Queen St., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, in Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

He was born Jan. 1, 1940, in Sunbury, a son of the late Harrison and Grace (Hull) Rogers. On May 19, 1962, he married the former Polly Fish who survives.

He was a 1957 graduate of Sunbury high School.

Peter was formerly employed by the Butter Krust Bakery for over 35 years.

He was a member of the Catawissa Avenue United Methodist Church, Sunbury.

Peter enjoyed fishing, making model cars and walking his dog. He was a little league coach for his son and grandson.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Paula D. Rogers and her companion, Cory Douglas, of Northumberland, and Paige E. Rathosky and her husband, Brian, of Northumberland; four grandchildren, Kayla A. Rogers, Paizley P. Douglas, Austin B. Rogers and Avery P. Rogers; one sister, Clevetta Weirick, of Sunbury; one sister-in-law, Audrey Rogers; father-in-law, Donald Fish; and one brother-in-law, Denny Fish and his wife, Peggy.

He was preceded in death by one son, Peter E. Rogers; one brother, Gene “Stubby” Rogers; one brother-in-law, George “Butch” Weirick.

Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 309 Water St., Northumberland, followed by a memorial service at 7.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the charity of their choice.
