SUNBURY — Thomas R. Frick Jr., 76, of Sunbury, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at his residence.
He was born in Danville on Dec. 6, 1936, a son of the late Thomas and Jenniebelle (Stumpff) Frick Sr. He was married to the former Suzanne F. Grugan for more than 41 years until she preceded him in death in 1999.
Thomas graduated from Sunbury High School in 1954 and while there played varsity football and excelled in varsity basketball. He served as the class treasurer from the 7th grade till time of his death. He hosted picnics for the class in the summer and attended their monthly breakfasts at Tiffany’s until his death.
He served in the Air Force in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 1954 to 1958.
He was formerly employed as a control room operator at the Shamokin Dam PPL plant for over 28 years.
Thomas was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Sunbury.
He was a member of Rescue Hose Company, Sunbury; American Legion Post 201, Sunbury, Northumberland Fire Co. #1 and the Sunbury Social Club.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, New York Yankees fan and Philadelphia Phillies fan and was a perfectionist at carpentry. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family especially his grandchldren.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Thomas R. Frick 3rd, of Lancaster, Jacqueline S. and Scott Rohrbach, of Sunbury and Matthew G. Frick, of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Trisha Rohrbach, of Sunbury, Zachary Rorbach and his companion, Robyn Garinger, of Sunbury and Matthew A. Frick, of Northumberland;one great-granddaughter, Little Miss Charlie Grace Rohrbach, of Sunbury; one brother and sister-in-law, Terrance C. and Judy Frick, of Sunbury; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Brown, of State College.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Susquehanna Ave., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m.
Interment will full military honors will be in the Orchard Hills Cemtery, Shamokin Dam.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the charity of their choice.
