Elmer L. “Jelly Bean” Ressler, 70, Sunbury

SUNBURY — Elmer L. “Jelly Bean” Ressler, 70, of Sunbury, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at ManorCare Health. To all my “Hun Buns,” I will see you again!

He was born Nov. 11, 1942, in Shamokin Dam, a son of the late Elmer Asher and Ethel Mae (Hixon) Ressler.

Jelly Bean had worked for the City of Sunbury on the crew, Wire Rope and Witmer Fuels.

He was a member of the Friendship Hose Company, Sunbury Veterans of Foreign Wars and Sunbury Eagles.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hanging out with his friends and buddies and hanging at Marlin’s, and he was an avid NASCAR fan. Jelly Bean was always there to help his family and friends.

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Natalie A. Packer, of Sunbury; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Edward A. Ressler and Ronald G. and Judy A. Ressler, all of Sunbury; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Carmen Rae and Frederick Campbell, of Sunbury, Linda R. and Ron Heim, of Stillwater, Gale L. Ressler, of Sunbury, and Janet and John Downs, of Harrisburg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Gulick and Earl E. Ressler, and two sisters, Susan D. Hoyles and Claire Bauman.

Friends will be received from 1 to 1:55 p.m. Friday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, followed by a memorial service at 2 with the Rev. Darrin Hunt, of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
