Florence M. Berge, 90, Winfield

WINFIELD — Florence M. Berge, 90, of 488 Park Road, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at her home.

She was born April 5, 1922, in FranklinTownship, Snyder County, a daughter of the late John and Emma R. (Maneval) Markel. On Dec. 29, 1940, she married Roy M. Berge who preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1968. Together they celebrated 27 years of marriage.

Florence retired from American Home Foods, now ConAgra, Milton, where she worked for over 20 years. Florence also cleaned houses for many years in the Winfield area.

She was a member of the Winfield Baptist Church where she served in the nursery for over 40 years.

Florence enjoyed flowers and gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Jan and Martha Berge, of Winfield; three grandchildren, Jan Berge Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Lewisburg, Karen Dix and her husband, Gary, of Collegeville, and David Berge, of Portland, Ore.; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by six brothers, Earl, Russell, Paul, Rufus, Bill and Merrill Markel, and two sisters, Evelyn Leighow and Edith Lenker.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Winfield Baptist Church, 330 Route 304 West, Winfield, where the funeral will be held at 11, with her minister, Pastor Corey Mitchell, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Winfield Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions be made to the Winfield Baptist Church, Missions Fund, P.O. Box 156, Winfield, PA 17889.
