TURBOTVILLE — Helen M. Hoffman, 91, of Turbotville, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at RiverWoods Nursing Home, Lewisburg.
A native of Lewis Township, she was born July 4, 1921, a daughter of the late Clark Emerson and Mary Elizabeth (Yoder) Murray. She was married June 1, 1941, to George E. Hoffman, who preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1973, breaking a marital union of 32 years.
Helen was a 1939 graduate of Turbotville High School.
She was employed for 24 years by Milton Shoe, retiring in 1984.
Helen was a life member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Turbotville, and a past member of the Turbotville Lioness Club.
During her early retirement, she enjoyed traveling on bus trips with her friends to various parts of the country. She also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed sewing, crocheting, yard work at her home in Turbotville, walking, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving and nurturing mother, always there to lend a helping hand or give words of advice.
She is survived by two children, one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Eileen Hoffman, of Johnstown, and one daughter, Dottie Foust, of Winfield; five grandchildren, Christopher Zurick, Trevor Foust, Christopher Gross, Kimberly Blee and Gregory Hoffman; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Ruth Starr; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by seven brothers, H. Walter, Shannon T., Clarence E., Paul E., Harold Y., Willis S. and Domer L.
Friends and family are invited to call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, followed by the funeral at 11 with her pastor, the Rev. Dan May, of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Turbotville, officiating.
Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
