MILTON — Andrew W. Divers, 88, of Crestview Drive, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
Born in Milton on Oct. 24, 1924, he was a son of the late Ned and Edna (Springer) Divers. He was married for 61 years to the former Emma Jean Yoder who survives.
Andrew was a 1942 graduate of Milton High School and attended Williamsport Tech. He served in the Army during World War II with the 741st Tank Battalion as a tank driver earning the rank of T-5. He served in Europe and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. He received a certificate of merit for destroying two enemy tanks in Rocrath, Belgium.
He was a steelworker for Milton Manufacturing for 38 years.
He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milton.
Andrew was a life member of the Moose in Milton, a 68-year member of the American Legion in Milton and a member of the VFW in Milton.
He enjoyed working around the house.
He is survived, in additon to his wife, by one son, Patrick Divers, of Milton, one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Divers and Earl Travers, of Milton; two stepgrandchildren, Ben and Emily Travers; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Divers; and many nieces and nephews.
Andrew was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Donald Divers.
Friends and relatives will be received on from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, where the funeral will be held at 11. Officiating will be the Rev. Patricia A.T. Pittsnogle.
Burial with military honors will be in Milton Cemetery.
