WATSONTOWN — Jean Louise Fleming, of watsontown, who was affectionately known as “Sis” to her friends, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in 1934 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Frances Gardner. She also was preceded in death by one brother, John Gardner.
She graduated from Danville High School in 1952.
She was the wife of Harold B. Fleming, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.
Earlier in life, Sis loved walking the fields searching for arrowheads, golfing, tailgating with friends at Penn State games and attending auctions.
She had a passion for flowers and gardening. She was known by her friends as a shrewd card player. A favorite pastime was sitting in her sunroom, enjoying a cup of coffee and watching the birds at her feeders along with her cat, Tarzan.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Cinda and her husband, Timothy Printzenhoff, of Watsontown, and a son, Harold Scott and wife Terri, of Glen Burnie, Md.
She was “Dee Dee” to seven grandchildren: Amanda, Rebecca, Laura, Sarah, Rachel, Seth and Deborah, as well as seven great-grandchildren: Isabella, Devin, Owen, Ivory, Lydia, Myra and Ethan.
Trips “to the farm” were greatly anticipated as Dee Dee made each visit special and memorable.
Per her request, a celebration of life and burial will be at the discretion of the family.
If a contribution in Louise’s memory is desired, the family suggests the Danville SPCA, 2801 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Services are entrusted to the Brooks Funeral Home. Condolences can be made at www.wfbrooksfuneralhome.com.
