SUNBURY — Bernadine M. (Pehowic) Baker, 90, of 539 Arch St., went home to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon, March 7, 2013, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.
A native of Danville, she was born Aug. 12, 1922, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Murphy) Pehowic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Baker, on Aug. 22, 1987.
She had served as a nurses aide at the Old Evangelical Hospital, now called Slifer House, and at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.
Bernadine was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a Phillies and Eagles fan, and enjoyed watching wrestling. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Virginia Baker, and Joseph and Nancy Baker, both of Sunbury; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, one sister, three sons, and one grandson, Jonathan Baker.
Friends and relatives will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, 41 S. Eighth St., Lewisburg, with the Rev. Msgr. William M. Richardson as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
