Mildred Elsie “Millie” Portzline, 93, Richfield

RICHFIELD — Mildred Elsie “Millie” Portzline, 93, of Richfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the home of her daughter’s and son-in-law with whom she lived.

Mildred was born July 7, 1919, in Selinsgrove, a daughter of the late James and Dethel (Hoffman) Master. She was married to Kenneth Franklin Portzline who preceded her on Sept. 8, 1987.

She attended Witmer’s grammar schoolhouse, Port Trevorton.

Mildred was formerly employed at the Richfield Shirt factory and Grove Dress factory.

She was a member of Arbogast’s Lutheran Church, Mount Pleasant Mills.

Mildred was a loving mother and homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, sewing and growing roses. She also enjoyed listening to music, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and doing word search puzzles.

She is survived by her three children, one son and daughter-in-law, James F. and Deborah Portzline, of Mount Pleasant Mills, and two daughters and son-in-law, Janet E. Engle, of Roseland, Fla., and Linda D. and Ronald Knouse, of Richfield; nine grandchildren, Jackie Kroeger, Rex Engle, Todd Portzline, Carolyn Minguez, Ame Jo Hughes, Jamie Portzline, Jeremy Portzline, Matthew Ferster and Mark Ferster; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marlin and Delores Master, of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Robert and Christobel Master, of Selinsgrove; two sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley and John Reichner, of Penns Creek, and Betty Snyder, of Selinsgrove; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by three sons at birth; a son, Roger Kenneth Portzline on June 1, 1998; one grandson, Dwayne Portzline; one son-in-law, Clyde Engle; six brothers, Leon, Palmer, George, James Jr. in childhood, Roy in infancy, and a brother at birth; four sisters, Louella Shutt, Verna Arlene Master in childhood, Gloria Master, and Nancy Master both in infancy.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, followed by a service of Christian burial at 11, all from Arbogast’s Lutheran Church, 456 Arbogast Church Road, Mount Pleasant Mills, with her pastor, the Rev. Patrick L. Sipes officiating.

Burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery.

Should friends desire, memorial gifts may be made to SUN Home Hospice, 61 N. Duke St., Northumberland, PA 17857.

The George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills have been entrusted with the arrangements.
