SELINSGROVE — Russell E. Bailey, 83, of North Eighth Street, passed away at 9:53 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born April 23, 1929, in Monroe Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Ernest and Ruth (Gordon) Bailey. On Dec. 4, 1976, he married the former Carriemae Willard, who survives.
Russ was a 1947 graduate of Selinsgrove High School.
He retired after more than 30 years of service with Selinsgrove Ford, where he was a sales associate.
Russ was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church. Selinsgrove.
He also was a member of Lafeyette Lodge 194, Free & Accepted Masons, Selinsgrove; Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1173, Selinsgrove; American Legion Post 25, Selinsgrove; Travelers Protective Association; Shamokin Dam Fire Company; Dauntless Hook & Ladder Fire Company, Selinsgrove; National Rifle Association; and the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Weikert, where he was a past board member.
Russ spent much time and found great enjoyment at the Bailey family cabin in Weikert.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Sue Bailey, of Freeburg, Greg and Pam Bailey and Scott and Sharon Bailey, all of Selinsgrove; three stepdaughters and their spouses, Joy and Rick Pratt, of Renovo, Linda Ernest and Dean Zechman, of Freeburg and Cathy and Greg Ely, of Sinking Springs; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Tiffany and Brian Scott, Nicholas and Samantha Bailey, Jocelyn Snyder and Sara, Andrew, Lindsey, Kyle and Courtney Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Skylar Bailey; seven stepgrandchildren and their spouses, Carrie and Michael Bruning, Jessica Schiro, Luke, Chelsea, Zach and Chloe Zechman, and Austin Ely; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Noah and Simon Schiro and Evelyn Joy Bruning; one brother, Clyde Bailey, of Winfield; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty Weaver, of Winfield, and Helen and Bruce Hoover, of Hummels Wharf; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mimi and Don Gallagher, of Sebring, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be conducted in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam, with the Rev. Randall Bennett Jr. officiating.
