WATSONTOWN — Dale E. Doebler, 72, of Main Street, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Oct. 19, 1940, in rural Watsontown, a son of the late Graydon and Kathryn (Muffley) Doebler.
In his youth at 13 years of age, Dale loved it most when he could work behind a team of horses on the Jesse Heintzelman farm.
Dale attended Watsontown High School and then enlisted in the Army.
He later worked at ACF Industries, Milton, then with Frank Cotner & Sons Construction and at the Cotner farm. He was then employed by Ray Bowersox at Milton Transportation until retiring at the age of 68.
Dale loved truck driving so much that after his retirement he took his pick-up truck and traveled 50,000 miles to all 48 states and Key West, Fla.
Dale had four children with the late Jackie (Clemens) Doeber: three sons and one daughter-in-law, Jimmy Doebler, of Danville, Craig and Sandy Doebler, of Watsontown, and Matt Doebler, of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Thomas Fessler, of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Tabatha White, Blake Kirvey, Brittany Fessler, Chelsea Reibsome, Kinsley Doebler, Zoe Doebler, and Jamie Coustine; two brothers, Terry Doebler, of Danville and Ned Doebler, of Manhattan, N.Y.; and his traveling companion and best buddy in life, Linda, of Milton.
He was preceded in death by one son, Larue J. Doebler; eight brothers, Kenneth, Edward, Graydon Jr., Jay, Richard, Max, Gerald, and Johnny Doebler; and four sisters, MaryJane Bryson, Martha Patterson, Leona Gair, and Gladys Parker.
In keeping with Dale’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery with the Rev. Jerry L. Caswell of Friendship Baptist Church, Watsontown, officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown.
