MIDDLEBURG — Clifford J. Hook, 95, formerly of Paxtonville Road, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
He was born April 30, 1917, in Shindle, Mifflin County, a son of the late John L. and Lillie (Showers) Hook. On June 17, 1940, he married the former Ethel M. Earnest, who preceded him in death on June 27, 2011.
Clifford attended Middleburg schools.
He had been employed at the Middleburg Silk Mill and the Snyder County Courthouse. He retired after 34 years of service as a Fuller Brush salesman.
Clifford was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg.
He was widely known for his ability to repair clocks. He also caned chairs and collected arrow heads.
He enjoyed music and played the harmonica and guitar.
Surviving are three grandchildren and their spouses, Colleen and Jeffrey Smith, of Maryland, John Hook, of Ohio, and Matthew and Jenifer Hook, of Selinsgrove; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren and Allison Smith, and Breanna, Alyssa, Madeline, Hannah, Ryan, and Haley Hook; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by one son, John A. Hook; three brothers, Ralph, Russell and Boyd Hook; and three sisters, Frances Thomas, Ruth Walter and Annie Mae Hook, in infancy.
The family will received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Arthur Montgomery officiating.
Burial will in the Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.
