William E.B. Snyder, 86, Camp Hill

CAMP HILL — William E.B. Snyder, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, Jan. 4, 2013, at his home attended by family.  

He was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Beavertown, a son of the late Aaron Jacob and Mabel (Beachel) Snyder.  

He graduated from Middleburg High School and joined the Army Air Force, serving at the end of World War II in Erlanger, Germany. In 1947, he graduated from Central Pennsylvania Business School.  

He and his bride, Virginia Troup Snyder raised their family in Wilmington, Del., where he worked as an accountant. After 30 years, they returned to the Camp Hill area where he worked for Mack Truck.

He was a member in good standing of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown.

When not spending time with his family, William enjoyed fishing in lakes and streams from Pennsylvania to Vermont.   

In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by his children, Kathleen Johnson and David Snyder and his daughter-in-law, Deborah Snyder; three grandchildren, Carey Stavrevski, Christa MacFarlane and Jessica Boyer; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Snyder; one sister, Dorothea Eisenhower; and former exchange students, Judith Byrne and her family of New Castle-Upon-Tyne, England, Chuckiat Pinichob and his family from Thailand, and Takeshi Oshiro and family of Okinawa, Japan.

Friends and family may visit from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove where the funeral service will follow at 11:30.

Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made in his honor to the local Salvation Army.
