NORTHUMBERLAND — Twila J. Luden, 66, of 83 Neitz Road, went home to be with her Lord at 12:26 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.
She was born Nov. 26, 1946, in Lewisburg, a daughter of Marie V. (Reynolds) Leiby and the late James W. Leiby. She was first married in 1968 in Virginia to Robert L. Burton Jr. In 1999, she married Robert J. Luden, who survives.
Twila started her career with the U.S. Government at the Pentagon and Washington, D.C., area with breaks for nongovernmental jobs with the RCA Corp. at Rockefeller Center, New York City, and SEDA-Council of Governments, Lewisburg. She enjoyed the various secretarial and administrative assistant jobs with the Air National Guard, Air Force, Army, the Army Congressional Liaison and the Office of Secretary of the Panama Canal Co. She retired in 1997 from the Social Security office in Sunbury after more than 30 years of service in the federal government.
Twila was an active member of Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton, and a member of the Cancer Hope Support Network at the church.
Her hobbies were cooking, baking, gardening and walking her many dogs, where she met many special friends and neighbors.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Brendon and Dana Burton, of Northumberland; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Linda Leiby, of Milton; one sister, Suzanne Burns, of Sunbury; her sister-in-law and friend, Jamie Leiby, of Milton; her aunts, Dorthy Stevens, of Milton, and Florence Benfer, of Mifflinburg; her stepchildren and their families, Bryan and Stephanie Luden, of Northumberland, Michael Luden, of Selinsgrove, and Kara Luden, of Nevada; nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends; and her beloved dogs, Bailey and Buggie.
She was preceded in death by her father; her infant brother, James W. Leiby Jr.; and her brother, Myron “Butch” Leiby.
A memorial service for friends and relatives will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in Christ Wesleyan Church, 363 Stamm Road, Milton, with Pastor Arlie Davis officiating.
