MONTGOMERY — Christopher B. Shellhamer, 36, formerly of Montgomery, passed away unexpectedly following a lengthy illness on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in Lansing, Kan.
He was born June 20, 1976, in Long Branch, Monmouth County, N.J., a son of the Rev. Dr. Ronald E. and Kathie (Bauer) Shellhamer, of Williamsport.
Chris was a 1994 graduate of Montgomery High School. He honorably served with the Army and continued his military service with contracted security forces having served in Iraq, South Korea, Kosovo and other international sites.
Chris was of the Lutheran faith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by five children, Joseph Shellhamer, Bryan Shellhamer, Christopher Shellhamer Jr., Mariana Shellhamer, and Robert Shellhamer; one sister, Jennifer Shellhamer, of Texas; and his maternal grandparents, Otto and Florence Bauer, of Freehold, N.J.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Louis and Evelyn Shellhamer. Friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2233 Linn St., Williamsport, followed by the funeral at 1 with the Rev. Richard Fangman, pastor of Zion Luther Church, Sunbury, officiating.
Interment will be in the Twin Hills Memorial Park. Graveside military services will be conducted by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County Honor Guard.
The family will provide the flowers. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Academia (a school of autism and children of special needs), c/o Drs. Erik and Debrah Krauss, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2233 Linn St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
