Monroe G. “Pap” Goodling, 92, Liverpool

LIVERPOOL — Monroe G. “Pap” Goodling, 92, of Liverpool, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at the Nipple Convalescent Home, Liverpool.

Monroe was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Richfield, a son of the late Robert and Dillie (Fogle) Goodling. He was married to the former Kathryn E. Phillips who preceded him on Dec. 30, 2011.

He attended Quaker Run grammar school house.

Monroe was engaged in farming all of his life. He was formerly employed with Princess Homes, Selinsgrove, the Pennsylvania Railroad, and the Harrisburg Steel Mill.

He faithfully attended Salem United Methodist Church, Liverpool.

Monroe enjoyed hunting small game, farming, and raising pigs.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Nancy Goodling, of Selinsgrove, daughter-in-law, Annette Goodling-Kratzer, of Liverpool; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Goodling; one sister, Gladys Hoffman; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Phillips and June Goodling; and many nieces and nephews.

Monroe was preceded by one son, Robert Goodling; three brothers and one sister.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Wayne Kerstetter officiating.

Burial will be made in Dressler’s Ridge Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills.

Should friends desire, memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Monroe to Salem United Methodist Church, 6 Shetter Drive, Liverpool, PA 17045.
