DANVILLE — Marie L. Shoemaker, 78, of 18 Old Valley School Road, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013.
She was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Danville, a daughter of the late Chester Sr. and Ethel (Gearhart) Share. She was married for 27 years to Bernard Shoemaker who preceded her in death in 1979.
She attended Danville schools.
She had been employed from 1953 to 1968 by Roselyn Yarns and from 1968 to 1969 by the Danville Metal Wire Company. She retired from Key Motor Inn in 2007.
Marie loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed reading, baking and gardening. She especially loved her weekly bingo games and shopping trips. Family was Marie’s life and she especially loved Christmas gatherings.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemarie and David Prutzman, and Kathleen and Harold DeGreen Jr., all of Danville; one son and daughter-in-law, Bernard Jr. and Annette Shoemaker, of Bloomsburg; five grandsons, Christopher, Timothy, Nicholas, Joshua and Harold III; one stepgrandson, Sammy; an adopted daughter, Helen Dandois, of Troy; one sister, Caroline O’Brien, of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son in 1953; an infant grandson, Zachary W. DeGreen in 2007; three brothers, Chester Jr., Clark and Martin Share; and three sisters, Gwendolyn Barnes, Nancy Rapp and Violet Hort.
At Marie’s request, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. For those wishing, memorial contributions in Marie’s memory may be made to Geisinger Hospice, c/o Geisinger Medical Center, 101 N. Academy Ave., Danville, PA 17822.
