LEWISBURG — Delroy B. Keefer, 86, of 2421 JPM Road, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning, Feb. 20, 2013, surrounded by his family in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
A native of Union County, he was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Dallas and Helen (Bennage) Keefer. He was married to the former Bertha Coup, and his death breaks a marital union of more than 64 years.
He attended Milton High School.
Delroy was a lifelong farmer who loved to plow his fields and not have “no till” fields. In his earlier life, he worked part-time at Snyder’s Atlantic station, Milton.
He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church and for 30 years until his death was treasurer of the White Deer Cemetery.
Delroy enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, playing the organ and spending time with his family at picnics at the cabin along Penns Creek.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Carole Keefer, of Lewisburg; one daughter, Barbara Schreck, of Mansfield; four grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew and Ang Keefer, Beth and Ben Eschelman, Amber and Mike Van Sickle and Angie Schreck; one great-grandson, Weston Van Sickle; and was greatly anticipating the arrival of a great-granddaughter in May.
Friends and relatives will be received from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Lewisburg Alliance Church, Supplee Mill Road, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with his pastor, the Rev. David W. McCarty, officiating.
Burial will follow in Church Hill Cemetery.
Donations in Delroy’s memory may be made to New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church, 205 S. 14th St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
Funeral arrangements are by the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.
