David R. Cotner, 68, Danville

The Daily Item

DANVILLE — David R. Cotner, 68, of 418 Jerseytown Road, passed away at his home on Jan. 30, 2013.

He was born June 17, 1944, in Lewisburg, the son of the late Ralph and Nellie (Fenstmacher) Cotner.

He was a truck driver for Blue Oil Co. for more than 15 years.

Dave’s greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Tim, Chris and Stacey and Greg, all of Danville; one daughter, Lisa Brosius, of Hollsopple; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one stepson: John St. Clair and his wife, Emmy, of Danville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Kathy Cotner, of South Carolina, Willard “Bill” and Shirley Cotner, of Potts Grove, and Brian and Ednamae Davis, of Danville; and four sisters and a brother-in-law, Geraldine “Gerry” and Bill Walters, of Milton, Eleanor Breasette, of Montoursville, Barbara Shearer, of Mechanicsburg, and Nancy Cotner, of Penns Creek.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, in 2005; one son, Brian; and his lifelong friend, his donkey, Poco.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church, Montandon, with the Rev. Jim Lewis officiating. Assisting him will be the Rev. Francis Cotner, of Gaffney Free Will Baptist Church, South Carolina, and the Rev. Marjorie Fisk, of White Hall.

The family will provide flowers. Donations in Dave’s memory may be made to the United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 86, Montandon, PA 17850.
