SHAMOKIN — Anthony F. Deibler, 58, of 331 S. Market St., passed away suddenly on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1954, in Sunbury, a son of Melvin and Lynette Deibler, of Snydertown. On March 28, 1981, in St. Luke’s Evangelical Church in Sunbury, he married the former Patricia A. Straub, who survives.
Anthony was a 1972 graduate of Shikellamy High School.
He was employed for 32 years as a delivery driver for Butterkrust Bakery, Sunbury.
He was a member of the West End Fire Association, Kulpmont.
Anthony was known by everyone as “Uncle.” He enjoyed traveling to the casinos, Las Vegas and taking cruises. Some of his favorite pastimes were watching television and going to Sam’s Club and to Brumbach’s Auction. He loved his dog, Sparky.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two brothers and one sister-in-law, Joel Deibler and Jeffrey and Joanie Deibler, all of Snydertown; aunts and uncles, Dona and Sterling Fisher, of Middleburg, Landon and Garnita Bailey, of California, Judy Ortmyer, of Riverside, and Betty Cardell, of Snydertown; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Grace and Barry Roseman, of Mount Carmel, Richard and Judy Bohner, of Liverpool, Roger and Judy Straub, of Mount Carmel, Gene Adams, of Tharptown, Richard Shipe, of Shamokin, and Benjamin Straub, of Anniston, Ala.; three godchildren, Amy Roseman, of Kulpmont, Nicole Williams and Ashley May, both of Shamokin; many nieces and nephews, Jentre and Jessica Deibler, Jadriene and Claire Deibler, Kelly and Shawn Ryan, Barry and Jamie Roseman, Wesley and Brady Keiter, Marlene Shipe, Brenda and Timothy Eby, Kay Williams, Chris Amato, Greg and Jessica Adams, Denise and Roger Straub, Edward Straub, Christine Meyers, Ellen and William Wortham and Sherry and Michael Tavis; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters-in-law, Mary Adams, Mildred Shipe and Irene Straub; two uncles, Robert Ortmyer and Walter Deibler Jr.; one nephew, Joshua Deibler; and one niece, Sandy May.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Farrow Funeral Home, Sixth and Chestnut streets, Shamokin, where the funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. James Richard officiating.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
