BEAVERTOWN — Helen M. Wagner, 83, of Chestnut Street, passed away at 7:10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
She was born Jan. 5, 1930, in Beavertown, a daughter of the late Clarence J. and Sadie A. (Zechman) Thomas. On June 21, 1947, she married Richard A. “Dick” Wagner who preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1990.
Helen attended Beaver Vocational School.
After school she had been employed by Saylor’s Shirt factory and then as a waitress at the Dairy Bar, both in Beavertown and Saylor’s Market, Beaver Springs.
Helen was a member of Beavertown God’s Missionary Church on Creek Road.
She enjoyed cake baking and decorating, and traveling on bus trips with her friends and especially enjoyed volunteering with the foster grandparent program. Helen was a past member of the Beavertown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Vance R. and Lois J. (Birk) Wagner, of Mechanicsburg, Tom A. Wagner and significant other, Karen Y. VanHorn and Fred and Bambi J. Wagner, all of Beavertown; four grandchildren, Daymond S. and Gerren Wagner, Heather M. Wagner and significant other, Troy Panchana, Amanda Aurand and husband, Amos, and Ashley Houtz and husband, Jeremy; seven great-grandchildren, Miles, Maura and Marshall Aurand, Emily and Leah Houtz and Arlo and Owen Wagner; one brother and sister-in-law, Roy Marshall and Josephine Thomas, of Beavertown; one sister, Martha Aumiller of Beavertown; and Helen’s companion, Arlanda “Sandy” Glant.
Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Thomas and George Thomas in infancy, and two sisters, Dorothy Lash and Maxine Napp.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. James Plank, the Rev. Jeffrey Stratton and the Rev. Matthew Maloyed officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
