TURBOTVILLE — Evelyn M. Hans, 92 of Turbotville, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at her home.
Born July 1, 1920, in Watsontown, she was a daughter of the late William and Jennie (Young) Middlesworth. She was married to Clifton L. Hans Sr. for 35 years until his death June 1, 1973.
Evelyn retired from American Home Foods, Milton, where she had worked 29 years.
She was an active member of Delaware Run Wesleyan Church for more than 78 years where she had been a member of the adult Sunday school class. She also taught Sunday school, was active with the children’s church, served as the director of missionary society, and was a Sunday school superintendent for many years.
She was a former foster grandparent with the Kid’s Club in Turbotville earlier in her life. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, flower gardening and doing puzzles.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Donald E., of Milton, James L. and Diane Lamey, of Turbotville, Clifton L. Jr. and MaryAnn, of rural Watsontown, and Keith W. and Jeanne, of Hughesville; three daughters and one son-in-law, Genevieve A. Walburn, of Turbotville; Darlene V. Grove, of Freeburg, and Fay and Dale Higgins, of Watsontown; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, and three sisters, Edna Hans and Mary Jane Reibsome, both of Watsontown and Mildred Divers, of Milton.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were one daughter, Diane Hans; one sister, Kathryn Hans; and one brother, William Middlesworth Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Delaware Run Wesleyan Church, 5570 Musser Lane, Watsontown, with the Rev. Michael Reece, her pastor, officiating.
Private burial will take place in Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to either her church or VNA Hospice, 21 W. Independence St., Shamokin, PA 17872.
