Elsie G. Getty, 89, Lewisburg

LEWISBURG — Elsie G. Getty, 89, of Crossroads Drive, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born May 2, 1923, in Danville, a daughter of the late Harold and Sara (Pursel) Kitchen. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Donald Kenton Getty for 59 years until his death in 2001.

Elsie was a 1941 graduate of the Danville High School.

She was employed as a baker for the former IGA Bakery and was a cook at the Victorian Lady and the Lewisburg High School.  

She was a member of the Mazeppa United Methodist Church.

Elsie enjoyed baking and cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Kenton Getty, of Wisconsin; one daughter, Marsha Lohr, of Lewisburg; six grandchildren, Scot, Cindy, Gary, Troy, Jennifer and Christina; seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kaitlyne, Joylee, Bryce, Blaine, Lizabeth and Colton; and one sister Alice Geiser, of Lewisburg.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Kitchen in 2004.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St. Milton, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Daniel Hicks officiating.  

Burial will be in the Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
