Anne Douglas Helme, Selinsgrove

— SELINSGROVE — Anne Douglas Helme, daughter of Charles F. Helme Jr, and Anne Bennett Helme Conger, of Clifton, Va., died April 19, 2012, after a long illness.

Anne was born Feb. 22, 1946, in New Orleans, La.

She suffered oxygen deprivation at birth resulting in mental retardation and epilepsy. She lived with her family until age 11, when she was admitted to the Selinsgrove Center. Selinsgrove was Anne’s home for the remainder of her life.

Anne is survived by her two brothers, Bob and Chip, and her sister June, along with their spouses Susan, Mary and Ken Cohen. Also surviving are six nephews, four nieces, and two great-nieces.

Loving staff at Selinsgrove Center who became family to Anne also survive her.

She will be buried with her father at Arlington National Cemetery at 10 a.m. Aug. 14.

Arrangements were by the Hummel Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
