Betty M. Sprenkel, 87, McClure

McCLURE — Betty M. Sprenkel, 87, of Sprenkel Lane, passed away at 1:51 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, surrounded by her family at home.

She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Port Trevorton, a daughter of the late Moses and Mary Elizabeth (Bordner) Stauffer. On Jan. 10, 1944, she married Raymond W. Sprenkel, who preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2002.

Betty is survived by four grandchildren, Tony L. Sprenkel and wife Susan, Shelby Hefler and husband Brian, James Lee Sprenkel Jr. and wife, and Jennifer Sprenkel and husband; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, James L. Sprenkel, on March 25, 1997; four brothers, Paul, Roy, Fred and Albert Stauffer; and two sisters, Elsie Longacre and Dorothy Gaugler.

Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, where the funeral will follow at 11.

Burial will follow in St. Paul’s “Middlecreek Dam” Cemetery.
