Juliette Lareau Groner, 74, Selinsgrove

SELINSGROVE — Juliette Lareau Groner, 74, of Selinsgrove, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Highgate, Vt., a daughter of the late Stanislaus and Marie Jeanne (Begnoche) Lareau. She was married for 25 years to James Groner, who survives.

She began her school years in St. Armand, Quebec, Canada, and graduated from St. Anne Academy in Swanton, Vt., in 1956.

Juliette worked for many years in the Burlington, Vt., area. She moved to Pennsylvania in the early 1970s and worked as a secretary at the Naval Depot in Mechanicsburg. In later years, her ready smile was put to better use working as a greeter at Walmart in Hummels Wharf.

She was a member of St. Pius X Church, Selinsgrove.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her stepdaughter, Gail Cover and her husband, Edgar, and two stepgrandchildren, Matthew and Amanda Cover, all of Selinsgrove; one sister, Lucienne Sharbonneau, and brother, George Lareau, both of Milton, Vt., and brother, Robert Lareau, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, followed by a prayer service at 10 with the Rev. Daniel F.X. Powell as the officiant.

Burial will be in Daniel’s Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills.

The Groner and Lareau families would like to thank the Shamokin VNA for its wonderful hospice care and assistance during Juliette’s valiant struggle with cancer.

In lieu of flowers, friends may consider donations to the American Cancer Society.
