SHAMOKIN — Frank C. “Cooper” Navrocki, 86, of 308 S. Fifth St., passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013.
He was born May 25, 1926, in Irish Valley, a son of the late Stanley and Anna (Dembroskie) Navrocki. On Nov. 9, 1946, in St. Stanislaus Church, Shamokin, he married the former Dorothy D. Krieger, who preceded him in death in 2009.
He attended school in Irish Valley and went to a mining school, where he earned a degree as a mining foreman.
Early in life, he was a coal miner, and he retired as a lieutenant from the Northumberland County Prison.
He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township, a lifetime member of the Fairview Gun Club, the Independence Fire Company and the Musicians Union. He was a social member of the Knights of Columbus and the West End Fire Company, Glen Iron.
Frank was quick-witted and loved to cook in large proportions. He had a secret recipe for breaded pork chops, which he just recently shared with his family. He enjoyed several trips to Montana, fishing, hunting, polka music and just hanging out at the cabin in Millmont. He also enjoyed watching his great-grandchildren play. He was accomplished in playing the accordion and drums and had played with a few bands throughout his years. He even played at both of his granddaughters’ weddings.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Sandy Navrocki, of Coal Township, and Ron and Darlene Navrocki, of Paxinos; three grandchildren and their spouses, Sara and Christopher Wallace, of Villanova, Julie and Alex McKinney, of Norristown, and Brandon and Amanda Navrocki, of Kingston; three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Wallace, Gwendollyn McKinney, Gavin Navrocki and another great-grandson due in May; one brother; John Navrocki, of Danville; one sister, Pauline Lenig, of West Cameron; five sisters-in-law, Kay, Florence, Mary, Loretta and Patricia; two brothers-in-law, John and Tony; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home, 120 S. Market St., Shamokin. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Hope Church, 863 W. Chestnut St., Coal Township.
Committal services will be held in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School.
