John H. Brininger, 92, Millmont

MILLMONT — John H. Brininger, 92, of 1485 Millmont Road, passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2013, at his home.

He was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Kantz, Snyder County, a son of the late John P. and Mary (Thomas) Brininger. On March 30, 1940, he married the former Betty Marie Paige, who survives.

John farmed for much of his life, and he retired from Chef Boy-Ar-Dee in Milton.

He was affiliated with Beavertown God’s Missionary Church.

John was “Mr. Fixit,” repairing things that no one else could fix. He enjoyed going to sales and, earlier in life, hunting.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 72 years, are two daughters and one son-in-law, LaVerne L. Radel, of Millmont, and Connie L. and Scott Hess, of Mifflinburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry P. and MaryLou Brininger, of Lewisburg; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Junior Brininger and Randall Brininger, both of Mifflinburg; two sisters, Thelma Rine and Royetta Swingle, both of Middleburg; and his faithful Jack Russell terrier, Rocky.

John was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy, in infancy; one brother, Edgar Brininger; and one sister, Esther Young.

Friends and family will be received from noon to 2 Thursday at Beavertown God’s Missionary Church, followed by the funeral at 2 with the Rev. James Plank and Rev. Jeffery Stratton officiating.

Burial will be in Beavertown God’s Missionary Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the VNA staff, Lewisburg Home Health-Crossings Hospice, Crystal Wallace, Evangelical Community Hospital, and close family for the care, thoughts and prayers during John’s illness and passing.

Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
