FREEBURG — Joann R. Gingrich, 76, of New Market Street, passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born April 29, 1936, in Lewistown, a daughter of the late William and Esther Smith. She was married for more than 57 years to Lawrence A. Gingrich who survives.
She was a 1954 graduate of Selinsgrove High School, where she was active in the sports program.
Joann and Lawrence own Gingrich & Associates, P.C., accounting practice and have worked together in the accounting field for over 40 years as licensed public accountants. Having their practice next to their home allowed them to spend almost all of their time together.
She was a member of Sound Truth Ministries where her son, Tim, is the pastor.
In addition to accounting, she enjoyed playing the piano and organ at home and for various churches during her lifetime and led various cantatas and choirs. She also enjoyed working in the flower bed and garden, taking care of her cat, and watching her children and grandchildren play soccer and basketball. She was an excellent cook, homemaker and mother. She enjoyed meeting with people and talking to them about the issues of the day.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Cindy, of Potts Grove, Tom and Linda, of Freeburg, and Tim and Lynette, of Freeburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Gene, of Freeburg; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Courtney, Nicholas, Nathan, Leah, Kyle, Rachel, Faith, Ryan, and Rebecca; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Miller, of Freeburg.
The funeral service will be private.
Interments will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Freeburg.
Arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
