SUNBURY — Theo I. Smith, 90, of Sunbury, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born July 21, 1922, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Calvin B. and Helen I. (Dailey) Renn. On Dec. 8, 1943, she married the love of her life, John Harold Smith Jr., who preceded her in death in June 1992.
Theo was a 1940 graduate of Sunbury High School. She honorably served in the Navy Waves during World War II.
She was employed as a secretary for Joseph Lincoln Ray before starting a family, later was a secretary for JK Supply Co. and retired from the Shikellamy School District as a secretary for the tax office.
Theo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and was happy and proud of all the members of her family. She loved her family reunions and receiving cards from her family and friends that she deeply cherished.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Dr. Steven Ravert; three grandchildren, Anne S. Ravert, Steven J. Ravert and Dr. Marianne Ravert Peacock and husband Timothy, of the Philadelphia area; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Dale Shoch, Susan and Donald Klinger and Teresa and Richard Corbin; two sisters-in-law, Alice Renn and Nancy Herman; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Scott O. Smith; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola Lenig and husband John and Constance Fegley and husband Charles; and four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Daniel B. Renn and wife Dorothy, Samuel Renn, Donald Renn and Calvin Renn and wife Pearl.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 2.
Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
Memorials in Theo’s memory may be made to First Baptist Church, Sunbury, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
