Dorothy E. Holtzman, 79, Wormleysburg

WORMLEYSBURG — Dorothy E. “Jo” Holtzman, 79, recently of Sunbury, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, while at her home in Florida.

She was born June 28, 1933, in Lee’s Crossing, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Rachel (Comerer) Johnson. On Dec. 23, 1959, she married John E. Holtzman, who preceded her in death on June 17, 2011. They celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Jo was a 1951 graduate of Hummelstown High School.

She worked as a telephone operator, a real estate agent in Pennsylvania and Florida, a CNA, and enjoyed being a homemaker.

Jo was also was a licensed beautician and a volunteer for the Red Cross.

She enjoyed being with her family, reading, singing, playing instruments, drawing and painting.

Surviving are her two sons and one daughter-in-law, John A. Holtzman, of Wormleysburg, Keith E. and Donna Holtzman, of Arvada, Colo.; two grandchildren, Benjamin Robert and Sarah Jolene; one sister, Aileen Rask, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one brother and his wife, Jess and Marji Johnson, of Bluffton, S.C.; one sister-in-law, Dolores Rothwell, of Virginia; one step sister-in-law, Doris Geisweit, of Hummelstown; and nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

A visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Millersburg, with a celebration of life conducted at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Frederick H. Faust.
