PAXINOS — Esther A. Moyer, 90, of 409 Romanoski Lane, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community, Mount Carmel.
Esther was born March 13, 1922, in Trevorton, a daughter of the late Abigail “Abbie” (Reeder) and Guerney Lesher. On March 1, 1941, in Shamokin, she married Samuel B. Moyer, who preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1998. She lived with her daughter, Sandy, in Paxinos for 10 years and was a lifelong resident of the area.
She graduated from Trevorton High School.
Esther retired after having worked as a seamstress at Shelly Ann Mills and other local garment factories. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
Her greatest joy in life was being a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and knitting.
Esther is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dawn Kline, of Pillow, Carol and Dan Alexander, of Trevorton, and Sandra and Barry Yorwarth, of Paxinos; one son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Betty Moyer, of Milton; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Sadie Chisick, of Trenton, N.J., Dorothy Hull, of Trevorton, Bessie Bieber, of Potts Grove, and Mary Schreffler, of Gratz; and two brothers, Guerney Lesher, of Trevorton, and Victor Lesher, of Dornsife.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, George, Lamar, Harry, John and Cyrus Lesher.
Services will be private at the convenience of family. There will not be a viewing or visitation.
As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township.
