MUNCY — Thelma Mae Womer, 95, of Muncy, formerly of Mount Pleasant Mills, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, surrounded by her children at the Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Facility, Muncy, where she resided the past two years.
She was born April 22, 1917, in Richfield, the daughter of the late Cloyd and Gertrude (Swartz) Benner. She was married to J. Roy Womer for 64 years, who preceded her on Feb. 4, 2001.
Thelma attended the Cherry Hill grammar schoolhouse.
She was a member of Pleasant Valley Chapel for over 50 years, and was the pianist there for many years.
Thelma deeply loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, and playing dominoes.
Thelma is survived by her three children and their spouses, Richard Sr. and Judy Womer, of Millerstown, Sandra and Pastor Bob Lauver, of Muncy, and Pastor Roger and Penny Womer, of Richfield; seven grandchildren, Richard Womer Jr. and wife, Rose, Dodie Bingaman and husband Bill, Tamela Messenger and husband, Dane, Tina Persing and husband, Nate, Tim Lauver, Ivy Stauffer and husband, Darren, and Josh Womer; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded by her stepsister, Ida Goodling.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, followed by the funeral at 2, at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, with Pastor Terry Sheaffer, her son, Pastor Roger Womer, and her son-in-law, Pastor Bob Lauver, officiating.
Burial will be made in the Richfield Union Cemetery, Richfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Thelma to the Pleasant Valley Chapel, 7689 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, PA 17853.
