Verna C. (Heim) Ferree, 91, Dornsife

DORNSIFE — Verna C. (Heim) Ferree, 91, formerly of Dornsife and most recently a resident at Nottingham Village, Northumberland passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Nottingham Village.

She was born Feb. 19, 1922, in RR Dornsife, a daughter of the late John and Hattie (Klinger) Heim.  

She attended school in Urban and was employed at Puritan Fashion in Millersburg, retiring in 1984.   

She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Red Cross.

Verna enjoyed sewing    

Surviving are six children and their spouses, Donald R. and Lorraine Ferree, of Berrysburg, Faye D. and Delbert Bobb, of Dornsife, Allen R. and Charlotte Ferree, of Trevorton, Dennis R. and Ida Ferree, of Marengo, Ind., Betty M. Hain, of Sunbury and Dawn D. and Paul Lightner, of Millersburg; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren.  

As per Verna’s wishes a closed casket visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev Glen Keidel officiating.  

Interment will follow in St. John’s Reformed Cemetery, Leck Kill.
