SELINSGROVE — George N. Vought, 88, of Selinsgrove, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
He was born March 31, 1924, in Sunbury, a son of the late William and Margaret (Giddings) Vought. On Nov. 25, 1945, he married the former Jeanette I. Miller who survives.
George was a 1942 graduate of Sunbury High School and served in the Navy during World War II.
He formerly operated an upholstery shop in Sunbury and was an instructor in upholstery at the Selinsgrove Center. He was the founder and former owner of the Winfield River Edge Campground.
George was a member of Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge 22, Sunbury, the Williamsport Consistory, the Sunbury American Legion Post 201, the Sunbury Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a life member of the Goodwill Hose Co., Sunbury.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, he is survived by four children and their spouses, Joyce and David Gilbert, of Las Vegas, Gail and Larry Brungart, of Williamsport, George Jr. and Stephanie Vought, of Selinsgrove and Jay and Tami Vought, of Northumberland; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Horace, and four sisters, Sara Gift, Clementine Bartholomew, Genevieve Kauffman and Betty Kocher.
At George’s request the will be no public service. A private family memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family
Arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 309 Water St., Northumberland.
