LEWISBURG — Richard L. Scott, 84, of Sunrise Road, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013, at the Watsontown Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 7, 1928, in Morrisdale, a son of the late John and Jennie (Beveridge) Scott. He was married to the former Mary Gilham, and his death breaks a marital union of 58 years.
Richard served in the Navy and Air Force.
He had been employed by Interstate Motor Freight and in earlier years as a coal miner.
He was member of First Baptist Church, Milton.
Richard enjoyed woodworking, growing tomatoes, onions and radishes in his small garden and watching and feeding birds. He was a fan of Louis L’Amour books and did crossword puzzles daily.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert G. and Linda Scott, of Montgomery, Tim A. and Donna Scott, of New Columbia, and Jan Scott, of Manchester, N.H.; two grandchildren, Danielle Scott and Lisa Scott; two great-grandchildren, Kaydence Wilson and Kamryn Wilson; and one brother, Donald Scott, of Avis.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard L. Scott Jr.; three brothers, Bob, Jack and Harry Scott; and three sisters, Jean R. Beatty, Isabel Nee and Lucy Hatter.
Friends and relatives will be received from noon to 1 Tuesday in First Baptist Church, 316 Golf Course Road, Milton, followed by the funeral at 1 with his pastor, the Rev Jamie Dries, officiating.
Burial will be in Sunrise Church Cemetery, Lewisburg.
The family will provide flowers and asks that contributions in Richard’s memory be made to First Baptist Church, 316 Golf Course Road, Milton, PA 17847.
Arrangements are under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
