SUNBURY — Carl B. Rohrbach, 89, of Sunbury, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at his home.
He was born Oct. 16, 1923, in Sunbury, a son of the late Lloyd E. and Helen C. (Bernd) Rohrbach.
Carl proudly served his country during World War II in the Army from 1943 to 1946.
He was employed at Holsum Bakery, retiring in 1985.
Carl was a life member of American Legion Post 201 and the Goodwill Hose Company, Sunbury. He was very active in the community with coaching Little League baseball and Ivy League football. He was active in the Northumberland Kiwanis Club and past president and a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by three children, one daughter, Stephanie D. Rozyckie, of Northumberland, and two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl M. and Sara Rohrbach, of Sunbury, and Kerry L. and Jodi Rohrbach, of Northumberland; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Fred E. Rohrbach, on Nov. 27, 2004, and a brother in infancy.
Carl requested cremation. A time of visitation with the family will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, followed by a memorial service at 1 with the Rev. Thomas Dunkle, of First Reformed Church United Church of Christ, Sunbury, officiating.
The family will have a committal at a later date in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions in Carl’s memory to be given to First Reformed Church United Church of Christ, Second and Chestnut streets, Sunbury, PA 17801, or to American Legion Post 201, Sunbury, PA 17801.
