PAXTONVILLE — With hearts saddened by loss but overflowing with wonderful memories, the family of LaVern A. Kiehl, 79, of Paxton Street, announce her passing at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Clyde and Mary (Martin) Wilson. On Nov. 15, 1949, she married John Kiehl who preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1994.
LaVern attended Shamokin schools and was employed by the Shamokin News Item and also did domestic work for private families in Shamokin. She enjoyed interior design, ceramics, flower arranging and reading.
She was the loving mother of four children, son John and daughter-in-law Cynthia Kiehl, of San Jose, Calif., son Robert Kiehl, of Paxtonville, daughter Bonnie and son-in-law Garry Cummins, of Sarnia, Ontario, and son Kevin and daughter-in-law Cathy Kiehl, of Snow Shoe, Pa.; the adored grandmother of Kevin and his wife Gloria Kiehl, of Bellefonte, Pa., Christine and husband Chris Harris, of Windsor, Ontario, Michael Kiehl, of Snow Shoe, Cheryl Madliger, of London, Ontario, and Lindsay Kiehl, of Lock Haven, Pa. She is also survived by one brother, John “Jack” Wilson, of Shamokin; one brother-in-law, James and his wife Catherine Kiehl, of Stevens Point, Wis.; and one sister-in-law, Valeria “Violet” Kiehl, of Shamokin.
LaVern was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2.
Burial will follow in the Hartleton Cemetery.
