NORTHUMBERLAND — Madeline Heines, 91, a former resident of FairLawn, N.J., and Troy, Pa., passed away at Nottingham Village, Northumberland, on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012.
She was born July 28, 1920, in Syracuse, N.Y., a daughter of the late Wilber and Carlotta (Ray) Maynard. Madeline was married to the late Walter R. Coleman, and the late William G. Heines.
Madeline completed nursing school at Paterson General Hospital, N.J., and worked as a licensed pratical nurse and scrub nurse at Barnet Hospital. She retired as a gear inspector at Wright Aeronautical in New Jersey.
She was a former member of Van Riper Ellis Memorial Baptist Church, FairLawn, and a member of Granville Center Church of Christ, Granville. She participated in church Bible studies and was a vacation Bible school teacher. Madeline was a 4-H leader in FairLawn. While living in Troy she was a grange member, hospice volunteer and ombudsman.
Madeline led an active life and enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, crafts, camping, and traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Walter N. and Nancy Coleman, of Atlanta, Ga., Robert W. and Joanne Coleman, of New Windsor, N.Y., and Madeline and Gerald Baus, of Northumberland; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Madeline was preceded in death by one sister, Carlotta Hubshman.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Granville Church of Christ Cemetery, Granville Center, with Pastor John Rees officiating.
A Memorial service will be held in March at the First Regular Baptist Church in Northumberland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northumberland Christian School, 351 Fifth Street, Northumberland, PA 17857.
Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 10 W. Mahoning St., Danville.
