Forrest J. Kerstetter, 77, Shamokin

SHAMOKIN — Forrest J. Kerstetter, 77, of 2153 Upper Road, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Mountain View, A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coal Township, where he was a guest for one week.

He was born Jan. 6, 1935, in West Cameron Township, a son of the late Norman E. and Leona M. (Long) Kerstetter. On Jan. 24, 1959, in Bethel Union Chapel, West Cameron, he married the former Betty Jane Kramer who preceded him in death on March 18, 1993.

Forrest was a life time resident of West Cameron Township. He attended West Cameron School and was a graduate of Trevorton High School.

Early in life he worked at the former Mandata Poultry plant and retired as a bank teller at Northern Central Bank, Shamokin.

Forrest and Betty Jane were the founders of The Kerstetter Family Ministry, who traveled the east coast with their family, sharing the gospel through music and testimony. Forrest attended Bethel Union Chapel, West Cameron. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by one son, Forrest Kerstetter Jr., of West Cameron; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Randy Wehry, of Northumberland, and Kerry and Jamie Seger, of West Cameron;  daughter-in-law, Neta Kerstetter, of West Cameron; 11 grandchildren, Shawn Kerstetter and wife Brittanie, Jenna Kerstetter, Jared Wehry, Janessa Wehry, Jessalynn Wehry, Joshua Wehry, Jourdan Wehry, Wayde Kerstetter, Skylar Kerstetter, Seth Seger, Kinsley Seger; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Bradley J. Kerstetter; one brother, Blaine Kerstetter; and three sisters, Mildred Wolfe, Anna Falck and Phyllis Spotts.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Union Chapel, West Cameron, followed by a memorial service at 11 with Pastor Dave Butler and Pastor Samuel Derr, officiating.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Forrest’s memory to Bethel Union Chapel, 3449 Upper Road, Shamokin, PA 17872.

Funeral arrangements are by the Robert G. Foust Jr., Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.
