NORTHUMBERLAND — George A. Wendt Jr., 60, of Comfort Road, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.
He was born Jan. 8, 1953, in Lewisburg, a son of George A. and Margaret Lulu (Kauffman) Wendt, of Shamokin Dam.
George was a graduate of Selinsgrove High School and attended classes at Williamsport Area Community College.
He was employed for many years at Acme/BI-LO Markets at various locations. He was currently employed with Weis Markets, Sunbury in shipping and receiving.
He attended the First Baptist Church, Sunbury.
George was a fan of all motorsports and was a Harley Davidson enthusiast. He also enjoyed boating, kayaking and was an avid Penn State fan.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Alice R. Clark, of Northumberland; two sons, George A. Wendt III, of Oakland, Calif., and Derek A. Wendt, of Kreamer; two stepchildren, Jason R. Napp and his wife, Jodie L., of Northumberland, and Melissa A. Santiago, of Selinsgrove; six stepgrandchildren, Lindsay, Tyler, Jasmine, Christian, Mia and Owen; one stepgreat-grandchild, Kameron; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kris Allen and Deb Wendt, of Shamokin Dam and Steve Allen and Tatyana Wendt, of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Friends and family may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Community United Methodist1 Church, 3939 Park Road, Selinsgrove, where the funeral service will begin at 11 with the Rev. Randall G. Bennett Jr., officiating.
Burial will follow in Shreiner’s Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
Contributions in George’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
